South Africa 2009

So as you might have gathered, no updates the past month because... I WAS ON HOLIDAY! Mohaha. The first proper holiday for me in about two years time. And let me tell you, it was nothing short of magical. Looking at the photos I reminisce about our time there - it almost feels like it never happened.

The whole trip is quite hard to describe, we did so much and saw so many things. There are too many memories, laughs and treasured moments that I don't know where to begin. I will try and sum up the trip for you, although you probably never will see how much this trip has opened my eyes, and all the wonderful experiences it's given me.

our first camp in the Kruger - Lower Sabie

It started by arriving in Cape Town, and spending the first week in Stellenbosch. This place is beautiful, full o little boutique- esque shops, wine farms, amazing mountains, awesome local pubs and friendly people. This week was mostly about birthdays, dinners, pub nights, family and knitting. I learnt how to knit the third day, and managed to finish my own scarf a week later! (so proud). Got a bit too drunk one night, but it was my boys birthday so it's all good. =)

my night of awesomeness... here I'm trying to blend with the rest of the "emo" filled crowd... how funny.

We also went four wheel driving in the sand dunes - I drove a little bit and I didn't roll the car whoohoo! I also learned how to shoot an air rifle, and actually hit the target. Enemies watch out.

After this week we packed up two Hilux cars and began our drive towards Johannesburg, where we were meeting my parents. Two days later we were on our way to the Kruger National Park (yes, the park your have all heard about, with all the wild animals stretching 600ks from top to bottom... COOL!) It was so good to see Mammi and Pappi again, I miss them ever so. And not to mention lil brother. I don't eel complete without him. Once in the Kruger we got to our first camp, and set off straight away to look fr animals. You have to be back at your camp at 5pm because they close the gates, to keep people from getting lost in the dark with all the lions... hehe. The first day we saw Impala, Buffalo, Rhino, Giraffes, Zebras, Kudu, a few Eagles, Crocodiles, Hippos, Waterbuck, a monitor Lizard, Monkeys... and probably more. We stayed in "tents" that were basically little self-contained houses but with a tent roof. Amazing! At night we went to our parent's house for a braai. (South African style BBQ - YUM.)

The remaining 4 days we had in the Kruger were all about the animals - we were out every morning by 6 or 7 and saw so much. We had spotted the Big Five by midday on our second day, which is apparently very lucky. Some people don't see much at all when they go. We saw Elephants, Lions, Leopards (very rare), Desert Foxes, Wildabeast, Fishing Eagles, Ostriches, Hyenas, Vulchers, Baboons... the list goes on and on. All were equally amazing, but I love the Leopards and the Giraffes...

On our way back from the Kruger (3 days drive back to Cape Town) we stopped at the highest Bungy in the world called the Bloukrans bungy. It's 214 m high, making it a no-go for at least me, but my brother and Mareli both jumped... I get goosbumps just thinking about it...!

Back in the Cape Stef took us up to Table Mountain, which was absolutely fabulous. Oh and also, on the road back to the Cape we stopped at an ostrich farm, where I got to feed one... let me tell you that they are actually quite intimidating! I was struggling to keep my hand in place when it was about to peck on me..!

To sum up the story, I was very emotional leaving SA. I had so much fun and loved the simplicity of life there so much that I didn't want to leave it. I caught myself thinking of going back to Sydney, the big city life which is fun, but is sometimes just so fake and superficial. I love Sydney, but sometimes you just need a break and begin to appreciate the things that really matter in life. I felt that on that trip I had everything. I was having fun, I had my family, my brother, always something to do, and I had Stef. Think we're already planning our next trip back, in about a year. Can't wait.

Taboo

Loving today. It's Saturday and I am officially on holiday! Whoo. We're at Tab's now, he's fixing up my man. Yea. Tonight we're having a couple of people over, for Stef's birthday. Birthday present sorted, too good.

Would have posted my today's for yesterday, but it was not much to brag about! I was late to the train because I spent too much time with the coffee machine... I wasn't tired at all the night before (read wired!) and slept about an hour. The office was hectic, but at least I got everything done. AND it looks awesome. Stefs done, looks so hot... Gotta go... Hehe...!

Get it right, right!?

Sorry just one more thing before I go... Couldn't help myself. As I signed out of hotmail, I got was put on the msn.se website (the Swedish version of MSN.com) and I found this:

Hot or Not? Tidsdale's trasiga Jeans ("Tisdale's ripped jeans")

Are you kidding me!? Never been a massive fan of Ashley Tisdale, but I'd sleep with her for those pants. SSSEX!

Red, red wine

Feels a bit like that today. Have a BIG day at work tomorrow, trying to push in a whole new flyer before I leave. And I haven't even been given the retouched photos from the photographer yet. Tomoorrow afternoon will go spastic, I can already feel it. All good though, because this weekend is gonna kick everything and everyones arse. Two words: F*CK YEA.

Working on Tab's site, so I don't have time to write more, sorry guys. Just posting these beauties from Ray Ban. Very retro. Very now. I love.

One Year and Five Months

Happy us Day, baby love.

Hey hey - You you - I wanna be your BOYFRIEND

DEUS shirt - my boyfriends, cotton on leggings,
tosh necklace, SUPRÉ blazer

Todays outfit I was very much complimented today at work. Teamed with my fav white high tops. Don't know what I'd do in a world without converse...

Tears me apart

The promised jeans. I was given these from my one and only T-babe, about a year ago. They're really comfy, a bit big but comfy. They're from Sportsgirl, and I've not worn them much at all. SO I decided to style em up... a bit. Love them now, they are awesome with a blazer. Isn't it amaxing what a little time, creativity, sandpaper and a leatherman can do? Everyone was staring at my bottom half this morning on the train. I bet half of them were in disgust... Poor girl can't even afford to buy pants without holes! Hehe.

Back to work! Have to finish off Tab's website, it's looking HOT. Shoot all day today at work, the photos look amazing. Can't wait to work with them on Friday, should be good. Alot of other reasons I can't WAIT fro Friday too... Dobee dooo.. ;)

Me and Stef have been together for a year and 5 months today. Time flys when you're having fun...! And better times are ahead, according to the little post-it hearts that are slowly disappearing on our mirror... Excitement!

Little Red Jacket

So I have never been a fan of red. It probably has something to do with my Mom, as she has never really liked it either. But I've found more and more that I'm drawn to trying new things all the time, and when I saw this jacket on a little shopping day we had last weekend, I could not resist. And let me tell you - I LOVE IT.

Mooloola jacket

my beloved DKNY bag, SM New Yorkshoes

Just got home. Far OUT I hate trains. They're expensive, inconvienient, smelly and WET! Especially today. Ick! Have to fix up the coral in the fish tank...

We're making home made pizza tonight! Yum. Nothing better. Fresh tomatos, basil, feta, olives, sopressa, ham, and chili. Mmm...

Gaga goes Svensk

OK... Gaga is speaking Swedish in her new clip to "Papparazzi"... Am I from the coolest country in the world, or has she completely lost it? Love how Alexander Skarsgård is in it too. Partied with him when I was... 17? Geeze.

Check it out here.

Save the last Ride

Buu huu. My bike is sold. Quite proud of myself, as I never thought I would be able to let go of my little CBR. But fact of the matter is that it is soon time to upgrade to something bigger, better, faster, stronger. Plus I had managed to clock 10,000 Ks on it, and for such a small bike, it's quite a bit. So I had my last ride on Friday last week. I don't think I will ever be able to give up the motorbike riding. Even though it limits you fashion wise (!) hehe - it's so much fun. We browsed for new rides on the weekend. I am still stuck on my K8 GSXR 600. It's sex on wheels. But the Ducati Monster isn't too shappy either. Besides, it would match my new red jacket. ;)

Sprung

If it was spring there is no doubt I would splurge on this dress. I love the neckline. This would be perfect for srping back in Sweden! Too bad it's getting into winter over here in Aus!

www.asos.com - Alice and Olivia Patti Pleated Silk Dress

Have heaps of photos to upload... just have to take time out of my day to put them on my computer. Bear with me people.

Sky High

So now that I don't have to gear up in biker-gear every morning, there is a little more freedom with the creativity of the day to day office fashion. Yes! I have never been a fan of high-waisted skirts, pants or belts, but I have learnt with time that it can look really good. So I'm slowly mixing and matching... This belt was my most recent buy. Apart from it being a liiiitle too big, I love it.

skirt: Gina Tricot, top: H&M(layered), shoes: Din Sko (old but I still love 'em), belt: SUPRÉ, bracelets: market find

Days now people. Days. Me and baby are both tired but very excited. I can still sleep at night... but I know as we get passed wednesday I will start getting restless. I can't beleive we are going to SOUTH AFRICA! Whoooo peace out.

Timm - mmigration

So after hours of wait, the longest que I have ever seen in my life, a little bit of suspense and 80 dollars later, finally - I have it! My visa for SA. Whoo! Took the morning off work just so I could get to Lee st. I cannot believ it has been 10 months since I applied for my permanant Visa. Still nothing. They are proccesing it to THIS DAY. They reckon it's going to be at least 14 months until I get it, so until then - Bridaging Visa B is my only ticket out of the country. And I have it! South Africa here we come.

Baby, you're so ripped...

Love these. Might just get Mum to do me a favour before she leaves. Did this at home yesterday with an old pair (dark) from Sportsgirl. Will upload as soon as I get home. Oh an Mum - thank you so much for the little package I got yesterday. Love you.

Darling DOLLY

This week has been quite slow, not to mention that the long weekend contributed slightly, there is not too much buzz in the office since Tuesday. Had a creative workshop at Fox Studios the whole of Tuesday (after launching the new web content.. ah. Stress!) It was a nice change of the everyday. We got our creatives heads together and planned for the future in terms of promos, competitons, fashion, styles and looks. Can all tel you that this summer will contist of ONE main thing - Ridicolously high waisted, ripped, lightwash denim mini shorts. Hurray to the world of camel-toe. I so did not just write that.

Tea2 and looking back...

Eh. On the weekend we went to T2 (THE best Tea store in the entire world), and I was just meant to get a hold of a strainer for Mom, cause she broke the one in her tea pot that she bought when they were here. I ended up with two teas... Oh and the strainer, Mom, so not to worry. They are the nicest people in that store. Even though they were probably high or somehting they were a lot of fun, SO friendly and helpful. Mmm... Chai... Only five hours left of the day...!

So Stef got his iPhone yesterday. No, I'm not jealous. And that was the biggest lie EVER. Oh well. I have to put up with my bloody 3 contract for another 14 months. How will I survive. At least now I can (finally) access the net through mine so I will live. Hopefully.

Working on our new Bags, it's quite a challange cause I'm linited in colour, and therfore print. But it's also alot of fun. It's always a thrill to see your work on the streets. And the SUPRÉ bags really are EVERYWHERE. TV is playing Pussycat Doll songs one after another, appropriate I guess. Just got photos from the meet& greet i NZ, gosh those gals look like they've won the lotto standing next to the PCD. How cute. We are shooting at the end of this week, but I can't be there cause I have to go to Melbourne. Ick! The casting this time was FULL of gorgeous girls so it should be a good one, and I'm not gonna be able to be there... Buu-huu.

So we have the weekend in Melbourne. I can't wait, and CAN wait, in a way. I'm a little weary, to be honest. And I know I shouldn't be, which is why it's weird. It will be good to see good ol' Ash again though. Hopefully we'll get to catch up with George, Ben and Liz and the rest of the gang. The last time I saw them was through bush fires and chaos at Ben and Lizs wedding... That was a bit of an experience! A few photos, it was a mysteriously beautiful day. They are the most amazing couple.

My Second BUS AD

Yea,I'm getting good at this. So this is my second bus ad, ever published. I'm so proud! Lol. I saw it on Monday morning, coming to work. It made the ride to the office so much easier, cause I remembered how much fun I have here.

My brother and his lady Michaela cme to visit me at the office the other say, and Michaela expressed how much she would love to work with the things I do. I have never thought of my position as something somebody would want to have. It just hasn't crossed my mind. But I'm finding more and more that there are SO many young girls who would love to do what I do. Michaela, I think you would be perfect for a role like this, so follow your dreams, Missy!

I want to start posting my magazine ads here too... but as of now I haven't kept up to date with the photography, so I have A LOT of ads to catch up on! From now on I will try to be better...

Fire, Fire!

Sitting at work, feeling slightly un-inspired and really just want to go home and enjoy a glass of wine. Which I will do, as soon as the clock hits 4:30. Did I mention we found our fave wine online? I couldn't resist, and brought home two dozen. The wine rack now consists of pretty much just that. Firestick (Poole's Rock) Cab Merlot, 2002. This is an amazing wine. If I ever get married, at least I have the red sorted.

Something Fishy

Been working on this piece at home for quite some time now. It's still not finished. I'm liking where it's going, I think I'm scared of finishing it cause I don't want to screw it up! Lol. Keeping it black and white, only using red for his splashes of colour on his head, and the water will be washed in a light blue. Promise to post when it's finished...

Alot of stories to share - just you wait.

My first Bus Ad

I saw it for the first time yeasterday, even though it's been out for weeks now. Why does the creator always get to enjoy their creations last? Today consits of more Bus ads, editorial spreads, flash presentations and posters. I love my job.

PS; hairdressers this arvo. Lets see what wonders he can do with my (now) brunette mane!

Ten Sixteen

Excellent example, have I set reffering back to my latest blog. Anyway, moving along.

Been very busy at work, I had my very first Bus ad published a couple of weeks ago. So exciting! I've yet to see it live, only seen photos so far. But that will do for now. Otherwise I've been making more in-store promotionals - posters, flyers, business cards, stylist cards, rack toppers, mini mags... not to mention all the editorials and DPS's that we've had for DOLLY, NW etc... Phew. The Easter break was well deserved. It was full of relaxation and just bumming around. Went to the Easter Show on Friday, which was pretty much the only effort we made that whole weekend =) It was so much fun! I went three years ago with work, but sinceI was on duty the day just felt like work. This year we found most pleasure in the food hall's showbags and amazing displays of giant pumpkins, incredible cakes and not to mention - bar promotions. We had a good chat to Hayden Wood, who's the man behind the range "Liquid Kitchen", a series of books about bartending, flairing, cocktail recepies etc. SUCH and awesome guy. He signed our book "to the Stefph's" as well, which totally made my day.

The other highligh was the Chili stand. Everything from Chili sauces for the weak-hearted, to the people with a love of flare. I tried the hottest one they had on display "Turbo Supercharge Habanero paste" which was absolutey awesome, though it felt like it left a bit of a scar on both my tounge and in my throat. But of course, as always, my man had to show me up and but the hottest Chili in the WORLD, which we were not able to tatse as is so hot that it's illegal to sell over the counter. Sorry, you what? Had to sign a contract that you understand the dangers involved in over consuming this product and that the company takes no responsibilty for any injuries it causes. Help! So we signed away, and are now awaiting the delivery of our power sauce in the mail. It will be interesting, considering you have to mix the sauce yourself for it to react, and use protective gloves while doing so. OMG WTF?!

After all the up-roar over the show, the rest of the weekend was quiet. I started a painting of a Koi, which I've taken progressional photos of to show you all. Will upload soon. We need something on the wall. Otherwise we've updated our tank, it's looks absolutely mad now, the new tank is smaller but much much prettier. God busted by the cops on Tuesday, for not having my bloody P plate on my CBR. Eeergh. The worst $200 I ever spent. I have never been pulle dover by the cops before, I have never had ONE point on my lisence. Now I have TWO. What has become of me? Over it now, but that money could have gone to something so much better. plus now my bike looks gay with that stupid plate. Thankfully not long to go now...

SA in ten weeks! It is amazing how time flies. I can't wait to go, already thinking about what to bring. Now that my brother is coming as well, it's something to look even more forward to. In need of a good holiday too, can't remember the last time I was on a proper holiday, without musts, dos and buts.

For all your Fashionistas and Lifestylers out there- here is a taste of what's revolving my world this season. Still lookng for that perfect pair of jeans. But they're either not there, or cost me a weeks pay. So for now, that will have to wait. The interior decorator in me as sparked back to life for some reason, coming in to winter and I have bit more money to play with these days. After SA, I think a minature home-make over will be under-way... inspiring right now - click here.

Single Ladies Blog Better

I've noted over the laast couple of weeks (because I've been too busy to even BEGIN to think about blogging) that single women are much better bloggers than ones who are not. This probaboly means that you should stop reading this now - cause apparently I've just called myself a "bad" blogger. Is that even a trait?

Went to Future Music Festival the other weekend, it was M*A*D, even though it wasn't as happening as last years for some reason. It might have been the friends' relationship conflicts that made us stop to think about anything other than the music... luckily that happened at the end of the night. I geuss everything happens for a reason. I wonder if break ups come in seasons or trends, like Fashion does. Because right now it seems to be picked up by alot of friends and people around me. Luckily I don't feel a need to change my Fashion/ Relationship statements.

I miss my fam! I sound like a home sick teenager but I really do. On Thursday this week we have one hundred days to go until South Africa. What an adventure. I cannot WAIT.

Note my updated links. I've finally grabbed ahold of my myspace page and brought it down to earth. Not that I use myspace, like ever, but it's good for statement making, and sometimes that's what life seems to be all about. Statements. Remarks.

OK getting a bit too deep and serious now for my taste. Time to hit the gym. I'm really statring to enjoy it. After I cannot wait to get home. Mmm... a hot shower, leftover home made (absolutely F*ing faboulus) left overs, candle light, Stef and a HOUSE. Sometimes I like being "old" and in love.

Weighs Me Down

SIGH. What is up with people and weight issues!? Holy *uck can people just get over themselves? All I've been hearing on the radio this past week is how enormous Jessica Simposon has gotten. Yes, she's obviously gained a few kgs, but she looks happy!? So who cares? This is making headlines while Australia is facing one of their most devastating natural disasters. Ever. Grow up people.

I was watcing "Sorority Boys" with Stef the other night, it was hilarious but I could help but notice how the girls are all so average. There is no one really over-weight, and no one scarrily skinny. When we were passing clubs in Melbourne over the weekend, it's like the girls are split into groups. They're either a group of flubbers wabbling down the sidewalk wearing dresses 3 sizes too small, or they are stick thin and pale power walking in impossible-to-walk-in-heels with a redbull in one hand, and a cigarette in the other. I know the feeling, I've been there. Losing weight gives you a rush! But most people either go too far like me, or can't stand it anymore and blow up a coupe of months later after finally allowing themselves to eat! Why can't people just be normal..?

Rough day at work. So glad it's over. Gym time. And that's NOT cause I want to lose weight.

Love - Me

Lindsay Lohan has just been noted for her dramatic weight loss.
